I picked up a California Super Lawyer Magazine and saw that an old friend of mine had been selected as a 2010 Rising Star. This friend had stopped speaking to me 4 years ago. I never did find out why. In the spirit of this challenge, I thought that I should e-mail her and congratulate her – both for this prize and for making partner at her new firm (something I discovered in the article). I sent her an e-mail congratulating her. She responded and we have a correspondence renewed of sorts. Life is too short to hold grudges or to let ego get in the way of friendship.
